Aromatherapy Properties:
(Uses)
The exquisite fragrance of some flowers is
spoiled by heat using steam distillation, therefore other means of extraction
are used. An absolute is one of those means and is obtained by immersing the
flowers in a solvent (usually hexane) which produces a waxy substance known as a
concrete.
The absolute does contain additional
aromatic components that are not present in a distilled oil. |

An
absolute
is the most concentrated form of fragrance (and the most costly), and is
mostly used in the perfume industry. Due to its concentration, Absolutes do
not always smell pleasant. In almost ALL cases they must be diluted to 10 %
strength before sampling.
To make
this costly, rare oil more affordable, we have created the
Lavender
absolute
essential oil
diluted in a Jojoba Base Oil
to a strength of 10%. This makes the oil usable directly without further
dilution. It also makes the oil more pleasing to the senses.
The Lavender absolute is sweeter but less
floral than the essential oil and the two materials can form a very pleasant
combination.

This Oil is an Absolute Oils.
Many times distillation
of a plant by steam method does not extract as much natural oil from the plant,
or in some cases, breaks down the precious natural oil in delicate flowers. The
solvent extraction method is often used in these cases. As a rule, absolutes are
more concentrated than a similar essential oil. Therefore, an absolute goes much
further than the essential oil counterpart.
